Yes they are big and bulky, they mess up your hair, and they block a possible good suntan but as my title to this story states they rock! They save lives!

I have a story to share with you from a horrible accident my family went thru over the New Year Holiday.. My husband and his friend jumped on the little 50 pit bikes and were just taking a ride in the driveway. Well it had started to rain and my husband went to go around a corner to come back to the house and they collided head on, with their faces. They unfortunately had no helmets on.. didn’t think they needed to, they were just 50’s right??.. Well my husband went thru a 8 hour surgery to repair 13 fractures in his face and they both broke their jaws and have to be wired shut for 6 weeks. When I was told I had to take my husband to the hospital I was in disbelief, it was just a 50 I thought to myself, they were in the driveway .. how could this possibly be real?. Well when I stepped out of the house this nightmare became real. The next 24 hours were the scariest moments of my life. We are so very fortunate that they will recover from this but with metal plates and pins in his face. Seems so easy to think a helmet would of prevented this horrific accident, but have we all been guilty of it? Yes, and we have learned a tough lesson.

We are such huge advocates of the Helmet when we are on our big bikes riding in the dunes or dirt, but this just goes to show that it doesn’t matter how little the bike, or the location you are riding at, or the speed you are going… They need to be worn along with all the other safety gear, to keep this sport safe!

Over the years I have seen so many people out on the dunes with no helmets flying at top speed. My favorite is the girl riding on the back of the bike with no helmet but the rider sure has one on.UGH! Ladies Please! This scared me before my husband’s accident now just seeing what a slow speed and little bike can do..Please take a moment to think about it before getting on that bike yourself or with someone.

If my story can change someone’s mind before they ride, then my job here is done.

So Please Check out Pro Caliber's online store where you can buy all sorts of motorsports gear! for all the latest and Cutest Helmets! Yes they come in pink! You can still make a fashion statement and keep that head and face safe! ; )
